AMNH Curators & Preparators - Glass Monarch Butterfly Diorama

Does anyone know someone at the AMNH? This is a really random, REALLY specific request. When I was an undergrad, I had the opportunity to tour behind-the-scenes at the American Museum of Natural History, and later did data collection for my research there as well. On one visit, I remember being shown a diorama of monarch butterflies feeding on milkweed, all made of glass. The diorama had been pulled from the public area of the museum because it was so fragile that the visitors walking by would send vibrations through the case, and it was at risk of breaking. I was wondering if I could talk to anyone about this era of making elaborate dioramas out of glass, and ideally if anyone happened to have more information about that specific diorama or the maker. I would love to find a photo of this diorama, but I know that that’s a long shot anyway. I’m doing my best with online archive research on all this and so far have come up empty. Context: I am a science journalist, but I have an extensive background working in museums (and I am trying to get back into museum work, but that’s a whole other story). I’m really interested in the history of how museums have created the facsimiles of the natural world in order to showcase them in dioramas, and I would love to discuss this further for a piece that I’m working on.
