Owners of A.Y. Jackson Yellowknife Trip Paintings - Book Research

I rarely get to share insight into some of the many incredible projects I’m working on. CBC News wrote about a recent trip I planned to Yellowknife. https://lnkd.in/gT4X9ZxT I was up there with John Bennett, whose father arranged A.Y. Jackson's painting trips into the Northwest Territories in the 1940s and '50s. Seventy-odd years later, John is tracking down every painting Jackson produced from those trips, and we're compiling his research into a book.  He'd never seen the ones held in Yellowknife; ten at the Legislative Assembly and eleven at the Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre. Seeing them where his father once worked, alongside the people who care for them today made the trip absolutely remarkable on many levels. Our gracious hosts opened their doors (and vaults), shared their own amazing stories and added a critical chapter to a story already rich in art, family and history. My thanks to everyone at the Legislative Assembly and the Heritage Centre, and to Jocelyn Shepel at CBC North as well.  It's a privilege to work alongside collectors like John, and with the researchers, curators and academics who make a project like this possible. I'll be writing more about this as the project comes together. If you own a Jackson from these northern trips, or you know where one is, I'd like to hear from you so that we can continue to trace the history and people from those expeditions.  More to come.
